Carpeting

WHAT IS CARPETING?

Carpeting involves the supply and installation of carpet flooring across residential or commercial interiors. From soft, plush piles to durable, low-maintenance options, carpet brings warmth, comfort, noise reduction, and aesthetic appeal to any space.

A professional carpeting service includes helping you choose the right carpet type, preparing the subfloor, and expertly laying the carpet to ensure a perfect fit and long-lasting performance.

Here are the steps involved in a professional carpeting project:

  • Consultation & Carpet Selection: The process starts with a consultation to assess your space, understand your lifestyle needs (e.g. pets, kids, traffic levels), and help you choose the right carpet style, fibre, colour, and underlay. You’ll see samples of various options including wool, nylon, polyester, and blends.

  • Site Measurement & Quote: Accurate measurements of all rooms, halls, and stairways are taken to provide a clear, itemised quote including materials, underlay, and labour.

  • Old Flooring Removal (if needed): If existing flooring is in place—like old carpet, tiles, or vinyl—it’s professionally removed and disposed of.

  • Subfloor Preparation: The concrete or timber subfloor is inspected and prepped. This may include grinding, leveling, or minor repairs to ensure a smooth and stable surface for installation.

  • Underlay Installation: A high-quality foam or rubber underlay is installed to improve comfort, insulation, and extend carpet lifespan. The underlay also helps reduce sound and makes walking softer underfoot.

  • Carpet Installation: The carpet is cut, stretched, and installed wall-to-wall using professional tools and techniques. Seams are joined seamlessly, and edges are tucked neatly against walls and trims.

  • Clean-Up & Final Inspection: The area is vacuumed and all waste is removed. A final walkthrough is conducted to ensure quality standards are met and that you’re happy with the finish.

CARPETING VS OTHER FLOORING OPTIONS

Comfort & Warmth

Carpet remains the softest and warmest flooring choice—ideal for bedrooms, living rooms, and family spaces where underfoot comfort is a priority. Unlike hard floors, carpet provides insulation and warmth, especially in cooler climates.

Noise Reduction

Carpet is the best option for reducing noise, both within a room and between floors. This makes it ideal for multi-storey homes, apartments, or homes with children or shared living spaces.

Maintenance

Modern carpets are treated for stain resistance and are easier to clean than older styles. Regular vacuuming and the occasional steam clean keep carpets looking fresh. For allergy sufferers, low-pile carpets or hypoallergenic options are recommended.

Hard flooring like timber or tiles is easier to mop but can be noisy and less forgiving on feet and joints.

Durability

Nylon and solution-dyed carpets offer excellent durability and are suited for high-traffic areas. Wool provides a natural, luxurious feel with excellent insulation, but may require more maintenance. The choice of underlay and correct installation greatly impacts how long your carpet lasts.

Cost

Carpet is generally more affordable to supply and install than timber, tiles, or polished concrete—especially across large areas. Budget-friendly synthetic options are available, as well as high-end wool blends for luxury interiors.
